The United Kingdom is set to progress with employing the entire amount of immobilized Russia's assets to aid Ukraine's defense operations, PM Sir Keir Starmer has declared.

In a shared declaration, the leaders of the United Kingdom, the French Republic, and Germany stated that this coordinated action would escalate tension on Russia's leader Vladimir Putin and urge Moscow to come to the table.

They further noted that the move would be carried out in strong partnership with the United States.

United Kingdom restrictions have blocked over £25bn of Russia's funds since Moscow launched its widespread offensive against Ukraine in 2022. But, previously, money sent to Ukraine using Russian holdings had solely been sourced from profits and interest accrued on them.

Sir Keir informed Ukraine's leader Volodymyr Zelensky that the United Kingdom, the French Republic, and the Federal Republic of Germany were aligned in their aim to advance efforts toward utilizing the total worth of the immobilized Moscow's national assets to conclude the conflict.

He stated that additional sanctions over the next period would heighten the tension on the Russian government.

This declaration comes after EU leaders convened in the Danish capital previously to consider employing seized Russia's assets for a 140-billion-euro loan to Ukraine.

In the previous month, President Donald Trump encouraged Group of Seven partners to seize or utilize immobilized Russia's funds, according to reports.

The worth of frozen Russian holdings in the European Union is calculated to be almost €211bn.

Moscow launched widespread bombardments all over the Ukrainian territory on that day, resulting in power cuts in significant regions of Ukraine's capital, Kyiv, and multiple additional areas.

Several persons were killed and a minimum of 20 people were hurt in the assault, the Ukrainian government stated.

In a post on social media following the strike, Zelensky wrote that the cynical and calculated attack targeted civilian and energy infrastructure.

"What's needed is not empty words but concrete steps - from the US, Europe, and the seven nations - in supplying defense mechanisms and applying sanctions," he emphasized.

In the same period, Zelensky informed the press he would press Sir Keir to join the weapons procurement programme, under which partner nations purchase weapons from the America to donate to the Ukrainian forces.

While commending the UK's strong support for Ukraine, he remarked it should demonstrate clearly that it would take part in the initiative, as well as enforce more measures on Moscow.
