In the intensely competitive realm of gaming, it's common for emerging rivals to disappear as quickly as they burst on to the scene.
However Battlefield 6 is hoping to change that.
This is the newest release in a long-standing combat FPS line commonly described as a more realistic alternative to the CoD series.
The franchise has never quite managed to rival its top opponent in aspects of revenue or players, but evidence points to the new installment could narrow the difference.

"Partnering with varied cultures, distinct backgrounds, it's a truly engaging environment to be involved in on a regular basis," he says.
"The complete method has been a fresh take but something really thrilling because we are working with team members from internationally."
As for the expectation on the developers, the director states: "We feel demand but also it's exciting.
"We're dealing with a large undertaking. It's arguably the most significant that many of us have ever worked on."
Emerging Developer Brings Innovative Insight
That's definitely accurate of no less than a single developer, VFX specialist Vlad Kokhan.
The 21-year-old creates the atmospheric effects that influence the tone, style, and focus of the story mode.
