Grief as Beloved South African DJ Shot Dead in the Heart of Johannesburg.

A prominent South African media personality and entertainer has been shot dead in the nation's economic hub Johannesburg, triggering widespread grief across a nation struggling with entrenched crime.

Warrick Stock, widely recognized as DJ Warras, was gunned down in the central business district on a Tuesday afternoon.

Police said the forty-year-old media personality was approached by a trio of assailants, one of whom opened fire on him before running away.

The reason of the attack has not been established and no suspects have been apprehended have taken place, as per the official statement.

Police revealed that Stock was targeted as he was departing from a building close to the Carlton Centre.

He had spent several hours at the site managing the installation of safety equipment, which had been reportedly taken over by unknown people, as per local media.

"The report indicates the man was approached by three unknown suspects after parking his vehicle, and they shot at him before running from the location on foot," authorities confirmed.

Security camera video reportedly depicted a suspect with dreadlocks and dressed in what appeared to be a guard's attire opening fire on Stock before running away.

The DJ tried to run away after he was wounded but collapsed on the opposite side of the road.

Officials noted that Stock had an weapon on his person and it was not a robbery during the assault.
